Daystar Foundation is managed by its Founder and CEO, a Board of Directors and supported by a committed team of paid staff and volunteers.
Founders
King (‘Kingi’) Williams B.A. Theol. – Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Kingi is the vision behind Daystar. He is responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination of key stakeholders’ involvement and support in the school community. Kingi worked for many years with The Hyatt Kingsgate Hotel group in several management capacities.
Kingi left the hospitality industry to pursue full time studies in Theology at Avondale College, Cooranbong. Kingi established and now pastors a non-denominational Christian organisation known as Church On The Edge. An integral part of the organisation’s ministry is its involvement in the community with Daystar. Kingi also finds time to serve the wider community as a board member of the Regional Development Council of the University of Western Sydney.
Mirika Williams M. Soc. Sc. – Administrator/Volunteer Coordinator
Mirika is responsible for co-ordinating community-based projects within the schools Daystar works with. Mirika also worked with The Hyatt Kingsgate Hotel group before joining her husband in academic studies at Avondale College, Cooranbong, where she completed a course in Business Administration, Information Technology and Office Management. This led Mirika to voluntary community-based work within the Minto/Campbelltown area. Mirika also works with UnitingCare Burnside as a caseworker in the IFSO (Intensive Family Support Options) program.
Board of Directors
Michael Carrington – Chairperson
Michael has 34 years business management experience working in New Zealand, USA, UK and Australia, plus a wide range of management skills that encompass human resources. He has consulted in the retail and manufacturing industries. In recent years Michael has worked extensively in the real estate industry. He has experience in property portfolio investment to property developments in residential, commercial and the industrial sectors. He currently consults in consumer and business finance.
Lisa Grinham B. Bus. – Director
Lisa's role as Chief Executive Officer of Charities Aid Foundation's Australian and New Zealand operations, coupled with her broad corporate background, enables her to bring a great deal of understanding of the for-profit and not-for-profits to Daystar. Prior to joining CAF in 2010, Lisa worked in marketing and general management roles in the corporate sector for nearly 15 years with 3M, Optus and Aussie Home Loans before establishing Sense Marketing in 2002, where clients included a cross section of corporates, SMEs and not-for-profits.
Ron Adams – Director
Ron worked with the Department of Education and Training for over 30 years and in educational leadership for 12 years. Now retired from the Department, Ron's last position was as Principal of Claymore Public School. Ron brings with him broad experience in community liaison and strategic planning. Ron holds a Diploma in Teaching, Graduate Diploma in Remedial Education, and Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies.
Dianna Ames – Director
Dianna holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts and a Diploma in Education. She has worked for the Department of Education and Community and is currently managing a Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations initiative for a local community organisation in the Macarthur. Dianna has lived in the Macarthur region for over 20 years and has a vested interest in supporting local young people achieve their full potential.
